The League raises public awareness of the orchestra field in the media,
promoting a positive image of American orchestras and the music they
perform and communicating the value of League programs and services.
The League initiates dissemination of news about the field and responds
annually to hundreds of press inquiries.

League services for thousands of professional members, the press, and
the general public. Visitors can track current events, download
publications, find brochures for conferences and professional
development programs, or find job openings in the classical music field
at careers.americanorchestras.org.
Print & Online Publications—Approximately 18,000 orchestra professionals nationwide receive the League’s award-winning magazine, SYMPHONY. Online newsletters (Volunteer Notes for orchestra volunteers, Upbeat for youth orchestra leaders, and Education and Community Engagement Update) keep members informed about best practices, programmatic opportunities, and policy issues. Five E-mail News Services include a daily digest of news articles on music, the arts, education, and philanthropy; two weekly services providing information on personnel moves and other news directly from the field; a biweekly e-mail highlighting opportunities to connect with League programs and services; and a quarterly update on electronic media activity.
