Meaningful Information

MEANINGFUL INFORMATION

Knowledge Center—Averaging 50 requests for information a day, the KnowledgeCenter provides numerous resources on topics such as long-range planning, fund raising, and governance.  It conducts, analyzes, and disseminates a range of surveys—from quick questions focusing on specific issues, to annual, in-depth studies. The League is building a new library of publications that will meet the needs for both near-term functional and operating data and information that illuminates challenges for the future.

Collaborative Data Project—A new partnership that is bringing orchestra managers and the elected national musician leadership (ICSOM, ROPA, and AFM) together to develop a means for gathering a single set of orchestra financial and operating data, which will be presented in the context of other relevant data to promote greater understanding of the environment in which orchestras operate. This data will provide orchestras with the information needed to make key decisions.

Electronic Media Services—To help orchestras take advantage of the dynamic new opportunities afforded by the revolution in digital technology, the League is offering its members expert consulting services on electronic media strategies, business plans, and production/distribution issues.  These experts are also helping the League design seminars, formulate policy positions in the emerging legislative arena, and gather and disseminate critical information about both the orchestra electronic media activity, as well as wider developments in technology.
