Protecting Musicians Hearing
It has long been recognized that exposure to excessive and prolonged noise can damage the hearing of musicians. Recent change in European law that seeks to reduce noise exposure to all workers, has resulted in a significant amount of research being undertaken to understand the implications for orchestras. This session will explain how noise is measured, what levels are considered safe, and the practical steps orchestras can take to ensure the hearing of their musicians is safeguarded.
