New Models for Consortium Commissioning: Expanding the Repertoire/Growing Community Connectivity
Orchestras need new repertoire to ensure they remain artistically vibrant, and also relevant and responsive to the culture and communities they serve. Consortium commissions allow orchestras to work together to bring new works to life, in a way which is both affordable and administratively efficient for individual participant institutions. The consortium further presents opportunities for unique and far-reaching education and community engagement, as well as the potential to garner both local and national media attention.
