Seminar for Women Conductors
While women conductors have gained greater acceptance throughout the field, they still face challenges, especially at the highest levels of their profession. It’s now commonplace to see women as principal and section players throughout America’s largest professional orchestras - why not on the podium as well? Join music director JoAnn Falletta in examining issues particular to women in the areas of artistic expression and artistic leadership. Seemingly minor factors - from podium attire, to body language, to one’s tone of voice - can be read differently, especially when women take the podium. This session will explore how women conductors can best grow artistically, and advance professionally, given these and other challenges.
