Opening Plenary Session sponsored by Wenger Corporation

The opening plenary will look at the idea of innovation through three different lenses:

3M's culture thrives on the creation of new ideas. They are committed to innovation at the core of their mission - allowing room for a good idea to be transformed into a worldwide product phenomenon. Larry Wendling, head of research for 3M, will take us on the journey from concept to the creation of an innovative sustainable product or program.

Katie Wyatt (pdf bio), the founder of an El-Sistema-inspired center in North Carolina, will challenge our thinking around how orchestras can better align our artistic mission with true service to our communities.

And Deborah Borda, president and CEO of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will pull the strands together and challenge us to grow our capacity for innovation and risk-taking.

The Combined Symphonies of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies & the Minnesota Youth Symphonies play VERDI and RIMSKY-KORSAKOV, see program >>
