Achieving Greater Clarity in Your Leadership Role

Heather Moore, president, Volunteer Council, Chuck Cagle, president-elect, Volunteer Council, and Helen Shaffer, president elect-designate, Volunteer Council, will discuss leadership topics and administrative issues that will help make the term as president of a local volunteer association a profitable and rewarding experience.

Volunteer Dine-Arounds

Volunteer association delegates will meet in a relaxed dining atmosphere for a “Dutch treat” dinner, and network within groups at a mix of restaurants in downtown Minneapolis. Further information can be found on the Conference Registration Form.

Making An Ask
           
Margarita Contreni, member, Volunteer Council, and Robin Roy, vice president for development, League of American Orchestras, will cover topics suggesting what is needed to get to “yes” and seal the deal in an interactive, participatory workshop.

Networking Luncheon

As volunteers enjoy a pizza lunch, discussions at the tables will focus on Membership, a topic of major interest for all orchestra volunteer organizations. Participants will share concerns and solutions covering all aspects of membership: recruitment, retention and integration.

Featured guest speaker will be Becky Roloff, CEO & president, YWCA of Minneapolis and a former senior vice president of Global Financial Advice and Systems, and a member of the senior leadership team at American Express Financial Advisors in Minneapolis for 17 years.

This is the perfect way to start off the day with a continental breakfast and lots of information sharing. Facilitators at each table will guide their groups in discussing a variety of topics in all areas of interest to orchestra volunteers.

This project produced a DVD which covered Santa Fe history through the music and dance of its many cultures. This DVD is now part of the music and social studies curricula in over 85 classrooms. This project will receive special recognition.

Serving Your Orchestras & Engaging Your Community

This moderated discussion session highlights a range of programs and projects to engage and support orchestras and communities. Bring your challenges and questions. Lois Margolin, sustainer liaison, Volunteer Council, will moderate the session with panelists Sandra Weingarten, Eugene Symphony, Brenda Azinger, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Beth Pusic, Omaha Symphony, Melissa Woolf, Charlotte Symphony, and Marena Gault, Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

Volunteer Leadership Can Be Child’s Play

A great leadership exercise, based on the book, “Toy Box Leadership,” which uses favorite old-school toys as metaphors to teach business strategies and leadership principles.
