Orchestras are invited to apply to the Institutional Vision Program, with materials due by February 15, 2008.
Seven orchestras, each with a team of three individuals, will be selected to participate. The team must include:
- The executive director
- The board chair or chair-elect
- The music director or a key musician leader (i.e. one who has been active on committees and invested in the vitality of the orchestra including and beyond performance on stage)
Orchestras interested in participating must submit the following:
- A list of the three individuals who will, if accepted, participate in the project
- Brief bios of each of the potential team members
- A one-page overview of the orchestra – including history, financial status, artistic leadership, etc.
- A copy of your year-end income and expense balance sheets for the last two years
- A one-page summary of the key challenges facing the organization
- Affirmation that the team has participated collaboratively in creating the summary of key challenges; (i.e. This statement should not be created by one individual with input or agreement by the other two members of the team, but should be developed collaboratively by the team – and ideally by others invested in the orchestra as well.)
- A statement, signed by all three, indicating why they are interested in participating in the Institutional Vision Program, and indicating their willingness, if accepted, to participate in all elements of the program, described above.
Orchestras will be selected and informed by March 15, 2008
Grants & Registration Fees: The seven orchestras selected to participate in the Insitutional Vision Program will pay a (total) tuition of $3,000, in token payment of the costs (of $45,000 per orchestra) associated with the project. The Program will provide meals and housing for the seminar in Chicago, as well as the faculty costs for all site visits.
