Using their highly successful project Keeping Score as a model, the San Francisco Symphony discussed at the 2007 Conference Innovations Expo how institutions, regardless of size, can plan and execute a "big idea." Keeping Score is the San Francisco Symphony’s seven year initiative to provide innovative, thought-provoking classical music content via integrated multimedia including television, radio, the Internet, education and community engagement programs and DVDs. Topics included identifying goals, the basics of creating a Business Plan and Financial model, funding approaches and the strategies used to motivate the entire organization to achieve the goals. Besides sharing what worked, the presenters also shared some of the pitfalls and lessons learned along the way.
