Informational interviews offer you an opportunity to speak one-on-one with an experienced orchestra manager or department director in your area of interest. You can use the meeting time to explore your interest in a career in orchestral management or one of many related fields. You can also find out directly what it’s like to do the job you’re pursuing. During your session you can also find out about League-sponsored career development programs including the Essentials of Orchestra Management seminar and the nationally recognized Orchestra Management Fellowship Program.
Informational interviews are available throughout the year and are offered in many cities around the United States. To request information about setting up an interview, please complete and submit the on-line Informational Interview Inquiry form. Upon review of your inquiry form, a League staff member will get back to you with interview details.
Please note that no applications for OMFP 2010-11 are being accepted at this time. If you would like to schedule an interview to learn more about the OMFP and other leadership opportunites offered by the League, please contact Polly Kahn at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
Interviews generally range from 30 to 45 minutes.
Remember, this is your interview. What you learn will be dependent upon the questions you ask. Be prepared to discuss your interest in the orchestra management field and to outline your career goals. But also think ahead and prepare questions on areas that are important to you – utilize your session time wisely. And don’t forget to bring a copy of your resume to the meeting.
There is no fee to participate in an informational interview.
