Career Center

Welcome to the new Career Center of the League of American Orchestras!  If you are interested in exploring a career in orchestra management or looking for that right next step, the League has a range of information and programs designed to help you.  Whether you are a pre-college student, someone already in a college program or about to graduate, or someone who is interested in changing careers, the Career Center has information that will be useful.  With over 950  orchestras in the United States there are thousands of jobs and opportunities for you to become involved and to work behind the scenes to make the music happen. 

Of interest to everyone will be the section on Job Descriptions and Career Profiles will give you a thumbnail description of 30 different job responsibilities within orchestras.  Then you can look through over 150 career profiles of people working for orchestras and learn about their background, career path, and what inspires them everyday in their work for orchestras.

Depending on where you are in your thinking about working for orchestras, there is a section of information specifically for you—Pre-College, College/Graduate student, Career Changer.  Each section has an FAQ, Resources, Next Steps, and an on-line Forum so that you can post your individual questions about working for orchestras.

This section of the League website will continually be updated with new career profiles, videos, interviews, and resources.  We hope that you will check back regularly and also let us know what suggestions you have for the site.
