Baltimore Symphony Orchestra—Explorer Series

The Explorer series is a series of three multi-media, hosted concerts designed to be cross-disciplinary, placing music in a social, historical and scientific context. Recurring subject matter in each concert creates a cohesive enrichment experience and serves to draw audiences back to view each subsequent concert.

The series has several goals: to create a novel concert experience for new concert-goers and regular attendees alike; to create an ongoing sense of discovery and revelation; and to partner with local institutions or personalities to create an exchange of intellectual ideas among academic and cultural organizations in Baltimore. The three programs draw on common themes throughout the course of the season and with the purpose of providing a new access point for intellectually curious audiences who may not have a strong background in music. The programs also present music in a new light that can be appreciated by regular symphony attendees.
