Orchestras involved with in-depth partnerships with schools and other community-based organizations to support youth and learning in low-income neighborhoods, may wish to become familiar with the Promise Neighborhoods grant program at the U.S. Department of Education. These highly competitive grants may be an option for a community partner and are available for community-wide projects that advance youth development from “cradle to career.” For the first time, a competitive priority is being given to applicants that have an arts-related focus.
