In addition to the NEA grant categories Access to Artistic Excellence, Challenge America: Reaching Every Community Fast-Track Review Grants, Learning in the Arts for Children & Youth, Arts on Radio & Television, the NEA provides grant opportunities through national leadership initiatives, support to state arts agencies, and partnerships with other federal agencies.
In partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the Coming Up Taller Awards recognize and support the accomplishments of exceptional arts and humanities after-school and out-of-school programs. Coming Up Taller finalists receive $10,000, an individualized plaque, and an invitation to attend the Coming Up Taller Leadership Enhancement Conference. All programs must be nominated; self-nominations are accepted. To view the eligibility criteria and nomination application, visit www.cominguptaller.org. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, January 31, 2008. The 2007 Coming Up Taller Awards finalists were recently announced and are currently posted online.
This NEA program supports the development, production, and national distribution of radio and television programs on the arts. Priority will be given to artistically excellent programs that have the potential to reach a significant national audience, regardless of the size or geographic location of the applicant organization. Funding is not available for direct grants to individuals or documentation or simple recording of performances or events primarily for archival purposes. Grants generally range from $20,000 to $100,000. Guidelines are available online at www.arts.gov/grants/apply/RadioTV/.
American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Artistic Genius is an NEA initiative to acquaint Americans with the best of their cultural and artistic legacy through performances, exhibitions, tours, and educational programs across different art forms that reach large and small communities in all 50 states. Orchestras that present or partner with organizations in other arts disciplines and have a history of presenting in those discipline areas may consider applying to American Masterpieces for support. For instance, grants have been awarded in the areas of choral music, chamber music, musical theater, visual arts, and literature. An application for the American Masterpieces program does not preclude an organization from applying under other Arts Endowment funding opportunities. Complete information and application instructions are available from the NEA.
