The NEA awarded 96 grants to orchestras in fiscal year 2000, totaling $3,117,000. Awards to all arts disciplines through the categories of Creation & Presentation (announced in December 1999) and in the categories of Education, Access, and Heritage & Preservation (announced in April 2000), numbered 1,369, and totaled $31.3 million.
