GRANTS TO ORCHESTRAS

Some details of the projects listed below are subject to change, contingent upon prior Endowment approval.

Apollo's Fire, The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, $15,000
To support Come to the River: An Early American Gathering. Plans include national tour performances, educational workshops, radio broadcasts, and local outreach programs.

Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, $100,000
To support a performance series focused on "free people of color" in 19th -century New Orleans. Activities will include an orchestral performance, a visual arts exhibition, a theater performance, a symposium, family activities, and the distribution of educational materials.

San Francisco Symphony, $11,500
To support Feet First! Chamber Music Inspired by Popular Dance, a performance and educational project. As part of the orchestra's Keeping Score Education Summer Institute, concerts will be performed by ensembles of orchestra musicians with dancers from the San Francisco Ballet School and held at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

RELATED AMERICAN MASTERPIECES: CHAMBER MUSIC GRANTS

City of Charleston, South Carolina, $25,000
To support performances of American chamber music as part of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival with related educational activities. Ensembles to perform will comprise musicians from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music Charleston, and New Music Collective in Charleston.
